"Impressionistic" and "Painterly" are words that describe Jennifer's
photography. She prefers "Pictorialism."
The Pictorialism movement of the early 1900s brought fine art photography to the masses by imitating the innovations of modern painting. Lines are softened, details are intentionally left out and images have an atmospheric quality. These are techniques Jennifer embraces to evoke romanticism in her work.
Jennifer is compelled to manipulate images in order to communicate her
vision and the result is both emotional and sensually tactile photography.
Images are created that entice and challenge the standard representation
of the subject and seduce the viewer to imagine the unseen back-story.
Historical fiction continues to influence the visual romance that is
Jennifer’s art. Her subjects include scenes from her travels, portraits, nudes and an "insiders" view of northern New Mexico.
With the advent of the digital age and immediate images, Jennifer's
photography offers a more studied and considerate approach to image
making. Control of composition, tone and the quality of the lighting convey an artistic touch and a sensibility rooted in the ideals of pictorialism.

Teaching:- Jennifer shared her passion and talent for photography with her students at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN where she was an instructor for two years. Jennifer has also guest lectured at CAL ARTS, Los Angeles, CA.
